I would like to introduce… (insert fanfare here) our newest Hot Women member - Jean Davy.
Jean is the owner of the Amber Healing Farm located on Stingray Creek at North Haven near Port Macquarie. As a true entrepreneur, Jean operates her farm as a health retreat where myriad activities such as cooking classes, yoga retreats, weddings, seminars and more continually take place.
Jean has built her career on the notion that whole foods are nutritious and tasty, and not only for those with severe allergies. Everyone who values their own wellbeing can be rewarded with positive outcomes for mind, body and spirit.
Jean’s passion is to change people’s thinking through practical engagement in cooking food. She reaches people at the regional markets and at cooking classes, using a combination of nutritious ingredients to produce tasty treats.
Jean became connected with Hot Women when she provided catering at our recent “The Hidden Treasures of Verde Bamboo” networking event. Jean produced a stunning array of foods and presented them exquisitely, decorating the platters with leaves and flowers. It looked great and tasted even better. Many of the women sampling the food had no idea what they were “actually” eating, but the "proof was in the pudding", they loved it!
To make your mouth water, here’s a sample of what was served that afternoon - Organic Thai Pink Tomato Tarts Polonaise served with a basil and lemon oil and watermelon skewers with fresh ginger – so good. If you’ve never tasted watermelon with fresh ginger (and neither had I), it’s to die for!
It is surprising what preconceived ideas people have when it comes to organic and whole foods and what people will, or will not try. Jean is used to people’s reactions to new or unusual foods and she delights in getting people to try some. She loves their surprise and interest when they come back for more.
As business women we can learn a lot from Jean and her approach to her work and the way she takes an interest in the people who surround her. Jean is motivated by people’s stories and by getting to know someone and how life has impacted on them in different ways. She believes everyone needs to “Step Up” and take responsibility for the food they eat, their behaviour and how they are going to be effective in life.
Jean’s biggest lesson has been to “trust what I know” - to trust in a dream and work very hard to achieve it. She attributes her achievements to having a mix of the right people around her, and to listening to her intuition and working with it.
