WHAT KEEPS THE BOAT AFLOAT

Welcome to Hot Women and we hope you enjoy browsing the website to pick up useful information and tips, relevant to you and your business.

By way of observation, as I travel around small businesses I see different styles of personal and professional interactions in each workplace. Some seem to work well; people are engaged and focussed on their daily routines. On the other hand some workplaces are dull and lifeless and no one seems to be driven or motivated. Could this be due to no one appreciating the time and effort put in each day?

Ask yourself…how often do you reward yourself or those who work with you for running a successful business? Take a moment to just sit back and have a look at what really makes your business tick - is it you, others, your systems or your location. It may be a combination of one or more of these elements. Do you acknowledge a good week’s work or even say thanks to yourself or your staff?

I firmly believe that all businesses work on attitude and this filters throughout the workplace, to your customers and often determines the reaction you receive from others. No matter if you are the boss or a sole trader your attitude affects the motivation and productivity of all aspects of your operation. If you are a sole trader, you know the complexity of keeping all the “balls in the air” and you are the only one to catch them...or drop them! If you work with others “teamwork divides the tasks and doubles the success” can be true…but it takes hard work and consistency in your approach to get it right and build a motivated team.

So stop a moment, think about it and say thanks…

With this new edition of the Hot Women website we are introducing our newest Hot Women member Jean Davy. She has an interesting background and her story holds a few key elements we could all adopt.

I have also included information on personality types. Many large organisations and corporations spend a great deal of money and staff time working with this information to select workable team member combinations for maximum productivity and workplace harmony. Take a moment to look at your situation and your type and those who work with you.

How to Stay Calm Under Pressure

By an eHow Contributor

Staying calm when you are under pressure from work, health issue, family life or a relationship can be difficult at times. Panic and anxiety can flourish and take over your life, resulting in burn out. Take some steps to stay calm under pressure and to escape the stress before it gets to you and affects your health and daily life.

Breathe in and out. When we tend to feel overwhelmed, we forget to breathe deep. Shallow breath does not help us in situations and can only bring on and increase anxiety. Take 5 minutes to stop and breathe and regain your stability.

Take yourself away from the situation. If you seem to be in overwhelming situations lately, it is best to walk away for awhile. In more serious cases of intense pressure, consider taking a holiday.

Stop what you are doing. Go do some form of exercise. Make time for a swim, a stroll outside within nature or maybe an energetic run. Exercise can keep a sense of balance in our mind and body and help us stay calm in stressful situations.
